Outdoor Interfaith Prayer Vigil and Welcoming of Shabbat

  • 220 Spring Street Catskill, NY 12414 (map)

We are horrified and deeply saddened by Monday's massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 innocent children and two teachers were killed by a teenage gunman who purchased two assault rifles on his 18th birthday. A potluck dinner to welcome Shabbat was planned for this Friday, May 27th, at 6 PM. Due to rising Covid-19 cases in our community, the Board felt that meeting and eating together indoors was too risky and decided to cancel this event. In its place, we are hosting an outdoor Interfaith Prayer Vigil and Welcoming of Shabbat. Please join us to remember the lives lost in this senseless killing, and gather as a community. We can hopefully take some comfort in grieving together and offering our prayers, as well as sharing ways to get engaged to express our outrage over the plague of gun violence.
